Ramadan Lecture: Imota Council Chairman Calls For Unity, Cooperation For Development

Hon. Sunday Benson, Chairman, Imota LCDA, Fadhilat Sheikh Imam Kamaludeen Kanzudeen, the guest lecturer and other council functionaries at the the 2026 Annual Ramadan Public Lecture hosted by Imota LCDA

‎The Imota Local Council Development Area on Thursday, hosted the 2026 Annual Ramadan Public Lecture, bringing together members of the Muslim community, management staff and residents in a spiritually uplifting gathering that emphasised unity, moral rebirth, and collective development within the community.

‎The event, held at the Imota council secretariat, was organised by the Unified Local Government Muslim Staff Association, Imota LCDA Branch, as part of activities marking the holy month of Ramadan.

‎‎It provided an opportunity for Muslims and members of the public to reflect on the spiritual significance of the season while also strengthening the bond between the council administration, the Muslim community, and residents of Imota LCDA.

‎Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman of Imota LCDA, Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele, called on the council staff to embrace unity and cooperation with his administration in order to accelerate grassroots development across the locality.

‎He stressed that meaningful progress can only be achieved when council staff and political office holders work together in harmony and shared commitment for public service.

‎Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele noted that the holy month of Ramadan presents a period of reflection, sacrifice, and renewed commitment to community values. According to him, “the season should inspire council staff to promote peace, tolerance, and mutual understanding in their daily interactions.”

‎The council chairman also used the occasion to reiterate his administration’s support for religious harmony and infrastructural development. He assured the Muslim community that the council would assist in ensuring the speedy construction and completion of the ongoing mosque project at the Imota LCDA secretariat.

‎He said the mosque project is aimed at providing a conducive place of worship for Muslim staff and visitors to the council while also strengthening the spiritual life of the institution. He also added that his administration remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote moral values and communal unity.

‎In his lecture, Fadhilat Sheikh Imam Kamaludeen Kanzudeen, who spoke on the topic, “Ramadan: Opportunity for Changing,” urged Muslims to see the holy month as a divine chance for personal transformation and spiritual renewal.

‎He emphasised that Ramadan is not only about fasting but also about improving character, strengthening faith, and fostering compassion for others.

‎The lecturer further encouraged the Muslim faithful to sustain the virtues of patience, generosity, discipline, and righteousness even after the Ramadan period, stressing that true success lies in maintaining positive change beyond the holy month.

Sheikh Imam Kanzudeen also urged Muslims to use the Ramadan period to intensify prayers for peace, stability, and economic progress in the community, the state, and the nation at large, while encouraging leaders at all levels to remain committed to good governance and people-oriented policies.
